Hi
I’m Jeff Bailey, a mental health therapist focused on helping adults embrace their authentic selves.
Since 2014, I’ve been fostering kindness and understanding in my practice.
In a shameless attempt to convince you to hire me as your therapist, I've written this about me page.
Scroll down to learn about me.
Education
I hold an undergraduate degree in German Language and Literature, where I studied how stories work. I also have an MBA in Marketing, where I learned to understand people's motivations and how to use stories to persuade them that my products or services would meet their needs. In counseling school, I earned a Master's in Professional Counseling, focusing on how to help my clients re-write their stories, particularly the chapters that are yet to come.
Career Journey
I began my career evaluating parolees and spent over three years working closely with that population before transitioning to private practice. I utilize a trauma-informed, adaptable approach, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support my clients' healing and growth.
Completed and Current Training
I have completed basic and advanced EMDR training, as well as training from the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. I've completed extensive telehealth training from the TeleMentalHealth Institute and supervisor training with the Colorado Counseling Association. Additionally, I am a certified therapeutic game master through Geek Therapeutics. Currently, I’m taking part in a nine-month training program to become a psychedelic-assisted therapist, enhancing my ability to offer innovative therapeutic options to those I work with.
Specialization
As a certified neuropsychotherapist, a Rainbow Advocate Clinical Specialist, and an EMDR-trained trauma therapist, I work with anyone struggling with trauma, including those in the LGBTQIA2+ community. I also address issues such as anxiety and depression, welcoming anyone looking to deepen their self-understanding.
Off-Duty
Outside of therapy, I design quilts and 3D-printed tools for sewing under my brand "Quilt Nerds." I also enjoy creating custom embroidered patches. I’m an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, and I embrace my identity as an unapologetic nerd. I love connecting with other nerds both in and out of the counseling office. In my free time, you can also find me riding my 1999 Yamaha VMAX or going camping with my 4 year old English Bulldog, Grizz.
Guiding Principles
I believe we need more kindness in the world. I strive to create a welcoming space where all clients can explore their growth and well-being. One of the guiding concepts in my work is intertextuality, which is the idea that all texts (and experiences) are interconnected. By finding hidden connections between different parts of our lives, relationships, and emotions, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our experiences.
